Lamps are made of sheet halfhard copper with a minimum of seam, machined brass and seamless copper tubing. Seams are lead-free soldered internally and are not easily visible from the exterior. The finishes available are brushed and textured, both lacquered and unlacquered and sulfurized. Unlacquered will tarnish in time like a penny: Exterior lamps will tarnish to a dark saddle leather color and eventually to a green verdigris. Artificial verdigris is available at extra cost. Texture chips are available on request. Lamps with internal dimmer switches have a touch button or ring providing four brightness levels and off. The lamp frame is AC grounded to line neutral to prevent radio and TV interference from the dimmer circuit. Hash filters prevent spurious switching. Lamp shade interiors are bright brushed and lacquered to preserve high reflectivity. This gives a light which is warm and pleasant. White interiors are available. Email: mrinnes@mcn.org |

Custom Designs
These are variations on a traditional design of unknown origin. I made four sconces for a customer who wanted to match existing sconces and the original lamps had no trademark and could not be found in a web search. The jigs can be used to make 4, 5 or 6 side hoods. The windows are 5 x 5 in. square glazed and may have 1/8" diameter protective bars. |
